Macon Honors Indigenous Roots with Muscogee (Creek) Street Signs

Downtown Macon now features bilingual street signs in English and Muscogee (Creek), celebrating the area's deep Indigenous history. Inspired by a visit to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation in Oklahoma, this initiative strengthens ties between Macon-Bibb County and the Nation.

With over 100 signs planned, this project follows Macon's 2022 raising of the Muscogee (Creek) flag and ongoing efforts to establish Georgia’s first national park at Ocmulgee Mounds.
